Bald Eagle Spotted in Estill Springs

I spotted an uncommon sight in Estill Springs Saturday, a Bald Eagle.  This is the second time I've seen one locally.  The last time was a few years ago.  Both instances have been around the lake while the Eagle was apparently hunting.  I have heard about a local nest and…

Robotic Crowdsourcing Experiment

I happened upon this page using stumbleupon.  Its actually a pretty neat experiment in crowdsourcing.  You can see the embedded video on page 2 of this article.

In New York City, we are very occupied with getting from one place to another. I wondered: could a human-like object traverse sidewalks and streets along with us, and in so doing, create a narrative about our relationship to space and our willingness to interact with what we find in it? More importantly, how could our actions be seen within a larger context of human connection that emerges from the complexity of the city itself? To answer these questions, I built robots.

Musical Generation By Grid

I found this site via stumbleupon and I think its very neat and different.  Basically it synthesizes music based on what squares of a grid are populated.  I've toyed with it for awhile and think its pretty neat.  Check it out here: http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix

Today's Storms

I snapped these pictures of the severe storms today.  We were under a tornado warning for a little while.  I don't know if one ever formed though. [nggallery id=11]

John Payne Dotson and Family

I received this picture from another descendant of John Payne Dotson last week.  I was very glad to receive such a piece of family history since I don't have any pictures that far back.  This picture was taken either late 1800s or very early 1900s since John Payne, pictured sitting…

Programmable Matter

Wow, it sounds like something out of Star Trek (see Hologram/Holodeck or maybe changeling might be more accurate), but Intel is claiming that “Programmable Matter” is 5 years away.  Whats more, from the commets they are making, these aren’t Holograms, these are actual objects with shapeshifting abilities.  See the next page for a video from CNN.
